FLYAP Expands to Yates County

Penn Yan – The Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program (FLYAP) has expanded to Yates County. Four Penn Yan Academy High School students signed on for job shadow opportunities with four businesses in the area.

Students interested in electronics, welding and machining will now get the chance to observe real-life Manufacturing jobs at Abtex, Penn Yan Aero, OptiTorque and Murphy Mechanical and Machine.

Penn Yan Academy is one of the few high schools in the region with a dedicated Career and Technical Education program.

This year, FLYAP has signed nearly 160 students across the greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region to job shadows and paid co-ops at more than 100 companies.
